Umm Al-Hayman Sewage Treatment Plant Project - Phase 2
The project covers the construction of Sewage treatment plant having a capacity of around 500,000 cubic metres a day. in Phase 1 and phase 2 will follow expanding the capacity by 200,000 cubic metres a day with a final capacity of 700,000 cubic meters per day. The project consists of two parts, one of which will be developed according to the BOT system and the second according to the design, construction and operation system (DBO). The project also involves construction of 68 ground reservoirs & 300 sewage rising mains to convey raw waste water from the Riqqa and Umm Al Hayman service areas to the waste water treatment plant, and a transmission network from AlEqaila pumping station to the plant. The total project investment is estimated at US$1.8 billion, the scheme is part of the country's plan to raise its power-generation capacity to meet the expansion of residential developments across Kuwait as well as to boost manufacturing, and develop new industries such as tourism.
