This project will be developed on a 5 million square meter site near Barka on the outskirts of Muscat. Construction of Sultan Qaboos Medical City Complex comprising a cluster of hospitals anchored by a huge general hospital, including dedicated facilities for pediatric care, trauma care, head and neck injuries, and a one-of-a-kind organ transplantation center. The 1,200-bed hospital will be equipped with latest medical facilities and has the potential to become a hub for patients from Oman, other Gulf countries and beyond. Besides these, various laboratories, University Research Centre, Development Centres and above all, a Medical Education City are currently planned to be housed inside the massive complex. Client is currently working on the initial activities of this Medical City, the blueprint of which has been approved by the Cabinet and Government. The scheme is currently in tendering, designing and other preliminary stages. After completion of preliminary studies, a complete configuration will be laid down in preparation for the financial estimates. Once operational, the new Medical City is expected to work side by side with Sultan Qaboos University facilitating the necessary research and development facilities to the students providing them with a source to carry out their research and studies.
