Shahid Hashemi Nejad International Airport Project - Mashhad
This project involves the development of Shahid Hashemi Nejad International Airport in Mashhad, the second most populous city in Iran. It will be undertaken on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. The project incorporates with the task of Development of an international airport comprising a 43,000-square-meter terminal catering to international flights and a 25,000-square-meter domestic terminal. The terminal, which has a design capacity of millions passengers a year, was originally planned to be used for pilgrimage traffic, but will now be used for international traffic until the new Terminal is completed. According to a source with knowledge of the transaction, the ongoing political uncertainty and the new sanctions, which the imposed on the Islamic Republic, could affect the timeline for the signing of a final contract. The work involves the expansion of the international passenger terminal to 43,000 square metres. The local Incorporated will be the main contractor for the airport civils work. France-based construction and development firm has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build this airport.
