  • Roads & Infra

This project involves development of Roads, Infrastructure and Public Squares in Khalifa City for Southeastern Basins (42.40.39.38) - Contract 2, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Residents of an Abu Dhabi suburb have been told to expect construction noise and road closures in the coming months as a major infrastructure project gets under way. Abu Dhabi Municipality said extensive works will be carried out in Khalifa City including the widening of the main streets and the laying down of new pavements. Altogether 66km of roads will be widened while 85km of cycle tracks will also be laid. In addition, about 1,400 bright white LED street lights will be installed. According to the Municipality, works also include constructing dedicated footpaths and bicycle lanes along the city's main streets. The project also includes establishing car parks opposite all residential villas and commercial buildings parallel to the street to avoid impacting traffic. The statement added that each residential land plot will have four parking spaces while commercial land plots will follow the standards set by the Department of Transport, without giving further details. The second stage will see the development of pathways over all the city parts notwithstanding arranging work of more than 70 kilometers nearby streets. The task incorporates connecting all private and business regions with bike paths to encourage versatility inside the city.
