  • Power and Energy

This plant will be built at Quweira, located 50 kilometers north of Aqaba in Jordan. The project involves Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to build a photovoltaic power plant with capacity of 105MW. The project involves the construction of a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of megawatts in Al Quweira of Jordan for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources (MEMR). The Quweira power plant uses three square kilometers of land to produce over 2.5% of the total national electrical production and is able to supply energy to more than 50,000 houses. In addition to installing the solar plant, the contract will involve provision of all the required civil infrastructure works, including access and internal roads along with provision of operation and maintenance services when the plant is completed. photovoltaic power plant 103MW project valued at US$120 million, funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Construction completed in 18 months, 25-year power purchasing agreement with Jordan’s Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Spans the size of 300 football fields, Supplies energy for more than 51,000 homes, Dry brush technique to clean the panels, saving water, Enviromena was the EPC contractor and O&M provider with key suppliers including Jinko, Ideematec and Ingeteam. The 103 MW Quweira solar PV project – currently the country’s largest – is owned by the Jordanian Government. The solar project consists of a combination of fixed-tilt and single-axis horizontal tracking technologies. The two 51.5 MW PV systems rely on 19 Ingeteam inverter stations, which are connected to the national grid through the 132/33kV Quweira solar substation. The 328,320 modules, with an output of 315 Wp, that were used for the project were provided by Chinese manufacturer. According to the latest available statistics, Jordan’s renewable energy capacity stood at 732 MW at the end of 2017, mostly derived from solar PV. After the commissioning of the Quweira project, this figure should now have surpassed 835 MW. Client has invited companies to submit pre-qualification applications by April 11, 2013 for the main contract.
