Power Plant Project - Bubiyan Port - Phase 3
This project involves construction of a power plant at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Seaport in Bubiyan Island, Kuwait. Called Package 3D, the scope of work includes construction of a power plant. Bubiyan is KuwaitÂ’s largest island separated from the mainland by the Subbiya Channel. Long undeveloped due to its poor soil conditions, the government approved a plan to develop Bubiyan in 2004 and turn it into commercial seaport with a total handling capacity of 2.5m containers a year. The port will allow for easier access to the Red Sea and will rejuvenate KuwaitÂ’s role as a primary shipping port. The power plant will be constructed near the port location and will be capable to operate both phase 1 and 2 of the port. Client and Kuwait Islands & Mega Projects Development Agency are planning to release the tender document for this development. The power plant, part of phase 1 of Mubarak Al Kabeer (Bobyan) Seaport project, will be constructed near the port location and will be capable to operate both phase 1 and 2 of the port. The project is expected to be completed by Q4 of 2020.
