This PV plant consists of a 61.3-megawatt solar power plant located in the Eastern province of Risha, Jordan. The plant will provide electricity at 5.88 cents per kilowatt hour and will be able to power 12000 households.Local ACWA Power has been awarded the contract to develop, finance, construct, own and operate the PV plant. ACWA Power has submitted a record-low tariff of JOD 42 fils per kWh. When the plant reaches completion targeted on the first quarter of 2019, the plant will save 79,000 tons of CO2 and will power 12,000 households.
The project will deliver the lowest tariff (0.042 JD/kWh equal to ca. 5.92 USD cents/kWh) across all renewable energy projects in Jordan including the Round I and II of the Photovoltaic Procurement program of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
