Muscat - Sohar Product Pipeline Project
This project is in Oman. The project is about Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to build a new 290-kilometre-long product pipeline to connect refineries in Sohar and Muscat. It will be implemented in three phases: - Phase 1: A pipeline connecting the Muscat International Airport and Mina Al Fahal Refinery by the main storage facility; - Phase 2: A pipeline that connects the Mina Al Fahal Refinery and Sohar Refinery as well as the construction of an intermediate storage facility in Muscat; - Phase 3: Construction of an additional strategic storage facility, which will provide strategic reserves for Oman, allowing 30 days of fuel stocks for the nation. The new pipeline will cut heavy fuel tanker traffic in Muscat by 70%. The scheme will increase storage capacity for diesel, petrol and connect the current storage facilities in Sohar and Mina Al Fahal to cope with ever-growing demands. Upon completion of the project, this new station will contribute 50% of the expected local consumption in the Sultanate to cope with growing demands, while keeping the current stations in operation. This is the first of its kind to be constructed in Oman — removing the need for Orpic to ship refined products between Sohar and Mina Al Fahal (Muscat), and bringing a new level of efficiency and lower costs to its business. It is worth to mention that the project will also be equipped with loading facilities designed to load up to 700 trucks per day. Client has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Spain to cooperate on the design, construction and operation of the scheme. Design work is currently in progress. Client Contact name has not been disclosed.
