King Salman Energy Park (Spark) Project

This project will be Spread over a massive 50 sq km area located between Dammam and Al Hasa at Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has broken ground on this scheme. Client, the developer and the anchor tenant at the 50-square-kilometre energy services complex, will deliver the first phase of the development by 2021. The park will include industrial, residential, educational, commercial and public facilities and uses. The energy hub will boost the downstream petrochemicals sector and will increase the contribution of local content across different industrial sectors. The project will be developed in three phases. SPARK is part of Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the kingdomÂ’s economy and support the private sector growth, along with the ongoing development in the energy sector. After ending the development of SPARK in 2035, the city will contribute SAR 22.5 billion to the gross domestic product (GDP), in addition to Saudising more than 300 industrial and services enterprises. Several local and foreign oil and gas services firms have already committed to investing in and setting up manufacturing bases at Spark. Spark has already attracted interest from major international investors including oil services firms Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, a unit of GE, and Halliburton. Engineering designs for the whole project is more than halfway complete. The first phase of development is set to be completed by 2021.
