This project involves construction of the planned Facility E IWPP in Qatar. Also known as Ras Rakan, it will be designed to meet capacity requirements after 2020, with the Facility D IWPP currently under construction. The project aims at increasing the country's current electricity generation by 22 per cent and water output by 25 per cent once completed. The project includes the construction of a 130 MIGD independent water plant and 2,520 MW power plant with all their related facilities. The desalination plant will be based either on the multi-stage flash process (MSF) or on multiple effect distillation process (“MED”) or on a hybrid solution of MSF or MED plant supplemented by reverse osmosis plant (“RO”) or 100% RO.
