The Desert Rose project will be developed between Al Ruwaya and Al Aweer across Emirates Road in Dubai. Development of a city covering 4,000 hectares of land to house 160,000 inhabitants in 30,000 dwellings, including a renewable energy plant with anticipated capacity of 200 megawatts, a sewage recycling plant with capacity of over 40,000 cubic meters of waste water, a light rail network and eco-walks for pedestrians and cyclists. All the buildings will have solar panels on the roofs and there will be a waste recycling facility and eco-friendly buildings. The ultimate aim is to reduce the carbon footprint by 300,000 tonnes per year.
