Cultural Foundation Building - Qasr Al Hosn Project
The scope of this project involves conservation and rehabilitation of an existing building, as well as the construction of a new Master Plan. This tender constitutes the Main Works package for Cultural Foundation building (Qasr Al Hosn) project. The principal scope is to conserve and rehabilitate the historic Cultural Foundation Building, as well as construct the new Master Plan: landscaping, facilities and below grade car parks on the 400m x 400m external plot. Works to the Cultural Foundation comprise a blend of careful deconstruction and refurbishment using conservation techniques along with new build elements and the internal fit-out to a high standard of finish. The conservation works must be carried out by an experienced conservation contractor in a considered and sympathetic manner, which recognizes the high significance and cultural value of the properties in the immediate proximity. The Master Plan works include construction of two below grade car parks for (500) spaces with a connecting site wide energy center, a musalla, retail units, large water feature and landscaping the site with a mixed palette of materials and planting, which include local trees and fauna. Works to the landscape comprise new build concrete construction and landscaping works, which utilize contemporary building techniques and materials to a high standard of finish. The 23,000 square meters (m2) building will experience broad repair and updating work, including the reintroduction of the library, the formation of show spaces, and the dispatch of an auditorium intended to situate 900. The newly renovated premises of the Cultural Foundation will host a diverse programme in its new Visual Arts Centre, including a landmark inaugural exhibition focusing on the buildingÂ’s history as a beacon for UAE artists.
