Al Gharafa Stadium Expansion Project
This project involves expansion of Al Gharafa stadium, located 20 kilometres northwest of Doha in Qatar. It is one of the 12 stadiums being built or upgraded to host the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The existing 21,175 capacity stadium will be expanded to 44,740 seats to meet FIFA World Cup capacity using modular elements forming an upper tier. After the World Cup 2022 event, it would be downsized to the current capacity of 21,175. The project will also include parking for 6,000 vehicles and seating for more than 900 media representatives. The stadium training facility and spectator's zone will be equipped with solar-powered cooling technology to keep the temperature at 27C.
