Abadan Oil Refinery Upgrade Project - Phase 2
Abadan refinery currently operateswith 400,000 bpd crude capacity, of which 250,000 bpd is processedin three crude distillation units with the record serviceexceeding 70 years. Consideringits oldtechnology and equipment, the three crude distillation units operate with very low efficiency, and very high operational riskand maintenance cost. The project will improveproducts quality and establishhigher capacityfor Abadan refinery including replacement of the existing crude distillation unit with a new one with 210,000 bpd capacity. Through phase two of the project, client intends to improve the refineryÂ’s facilities and stabilise output at 360,000 b/d. The new plant is expected to produce gasoline and other light products of European 2009 standards. Client has issued a tender for a managing consultant contract for this development. The refinery is due to treat heavy crude oil (of 20 API) from the Azadegan, Yadavaran and Jufeyr fields. The scope of work entails the construction of: - Atmospheric distillation unit (210,000 b/d) - Vacuum distillation unit (110,000 b/d) - Liquefied petroleum gas unit - Naphtha hydro treating unit - Continuous catalytic reforming unit - Fluid catalytic cracking unit - Gasoil and kerosene hydro treating units - Hydrocracking - Isomerisation - Hydrogen production - Amine treatment - Units for sulphur - Associated facilities.
