This project involves expansion of the King Fahd Causeway in Saudi Arabia. It will link the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia with Bahrain. The 25km-long King Fahd causeway links the Kingdom of Bahrain with the Eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Expansion scheme is planned to increase the vehicle capacity of the causeway, which often has severe congestion during peak times. On an average the bridge serves about 45,000 vehicles a day. That figure increases to about 60,000 vehicles during weekends. Existing causeway comprises (5) bridges interconnected by islands and dams. (3) of the bridges from Saudi part measure 934-metre, 2,034-metre and 5,194-metre in length. Bahrain side of link consists of (2) bridges, measuring 3,334-metre and 934-metre in length.
