Jebel Ali Refinery Upgrade Project
This project involves upgrading of the existing Jebel Ali Refinery in Dubai. The refinery currently has two trains of condensate. Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for upgrading of an existing refinery to increase production capacity to 210,000 barrels a day (b/d) from the existing 140,000 b/d. The project additionally incorporates establishment of a 70,000 bpsd LPG/naphtha hydrotreater, a 36,000 bpsd rough synergist reformer and subordinate handling units. On finish, the refinery will create around 1.2 million metric tons for every time of high octane reformate, the significant part in gasoline. Client is planning to add two new processing trains - jet and diesel hydro-treaters, and an isomerisation unit - that will lead to the production of Euro 5 grade products such as high-octane gasoline, low-sulphur jet fuel and ultra-low sulphur diesel. Client has started the pre-qualification process for the EPC contract and intends to float a tender later this year. US-based KBR has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract on this scheme. Established in 1999, the refinery processes condensate to produce refined products such as naphtha, jet fuel, reformate, diesel oil, fuel oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for local and export markets.
