The scope of this project involves construction of Phases 1 & 2 of Container Terminal at Hamad Port in Qatar. Works for the development of Phase II of Hamad Port has already started. With the works progressing on schedule, the second container terminal (CT-2), which is part of the expansion project, is set to become operational by next year, said a top official of QTerminals, which has been awarded the contract. QTerminals is a terminal operating company jointly established by Qatar Ports Management Company and Qatar Navigation. Hamad Port will increase its handling capacity to 6-million teu by 2020, with the first phase of the mega project due to open at the end of 2016, officials speaking at the 4th annual Qatar Transport Forum revealed. QTERMINALS W.LL. would like to pre-qualify companies specializing in the fields of container terminal, port and infrastructure construction and contracting. Pre-qualified companies will be included in the list of companies that will be invited to participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the construction of Phases 1 & 2 of Container Terminal 2 (CT2) in Hamad Port.
