Bab Integrated Facilities Expansion Project
This project involves expansion of integrated facilities at the Bab oil and gas field, located 160 kilometers southwest of Abu Dhabi. The project's scope of work involves the expansion of integrated processing facilities at the Thamama-A, Thamama-B and Thamama-H production zones located at Habshan, Abu Dhabi. The project will have a total sustainable oil production rate of 450,000 barrels a day. As part of the project scope, digital oil field technology will be introduced to remotely monitor and analyse well performance. The upgrade will also include the deployment of cluster drilling for the first time at Bab, where multiple oil wells will be co-located in one place. In addition to upgrading the Bab production operations, the investment will increase water and gas handling capabilities and deliver an additional degassing and processing train, to be built alongside the existing seven trains that condition crude oil for export. Client has re-tendered the scheme a year after canceling a previous tender. EPC contractors have been asked to submit technical bids by February 14, 2017. It is still unclear what the latest scope of the project comprises. Nine companies are understood to have been prequalified to bid for the EPC contract.
