Adam / Manah Solar Power Plant Project
The scope of work includes construction of a photovoltaic or concentrated solar plant (CSP) in Oman. The proposed development comprises at least one solar power generation plant of 200MW capacity, and could also be split across numerous units. The independent power project (IPP) is likely to be procured similarly as "conventional gas-based power projects". Adam and Manah areas in Dakhiliyah Governorate have been identified as prospective sites for the grid-connected renewable energy scheme. A combination of concentrated solar power and photovolatic technologies are likely to be deployed for the development. Client is planning to issue a tender for the BOO contract before the end of 2010. The scheme is likely to be privately financed, continuing Oman's model of developing independent power production. US law firm is acting as the legal adviser to the government on this project. An Australian firm has been appointed as the technical adviser and an Australian Group is acting as the financial adviser. Qais container Saud al Zakwani, official leader of the Authority for Electricity Regulation Oman (AER), stated: "For this present year, we will dispatch a delicate for up to 200MW of sun powered vitality limit at these destinations.
