This project involves expansion of the Sohar University in Oman - Phase 2. The scope of work of this project involves construction of a new facility comprising a student welfare and services building that will consist of dining halls, recreation centres, computer laboratories and student halls, including several indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as a football ground and a separate physical education building, as part of a University expansion project. The new facility will have capacity to accommodate nearly 10,000 students. A detailed study of the land, on which the project will be constructed, has been conducted. It is located away from flood-prone areas and will also be earthquake-proof. The college will have a museum that will showcase the history of the university as well as works by previous students. Phase two will also involve the construction of a physical education building and a student facilities building. The tender is open to experienced contractors that are registered under the category 'Excellent', having implemented at least 3 similar projects in the Middle East especially in Oman. The agreement for the second phase of Oman's Sohar University expansion with total value of OMR 9.5 million . The project is scheduled for completion in 2017.
