Ibri 2 Solar IPP
This project involves construction of Ibri 2 Solar IPP in Oman. Technical advisers have been engaged to develop tender documents and an appropriate evaluation methodology that assures a cost-effective project without subsidy. The project is about Development of a Solar Independent Power Project (IPP) with a capacity of up to 500 MW. The project sustainability is at the forefront as Oman embarks on the deployment of renewable energy projects and the pipeline is full of initiatives in this field that will yield benefits for current and future generations. The project will be located at Ibri, which is around 300km west of Muscat. With a peak generation capacity of 500MW, the plant output will be enough to supply an estimated 33,000 homes with electricity and will offset 340,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year. The estimated project cost is over million and the project will be built, owned and operated by winning consortium. Oman Electricity Transmission Company will evacuate the energy produced from the project through the Main Integrated System transmission network. Client expects to issue the request for proposal (RFP) in the fourth quarter of 2017. The project is expected to be operational by 2020.
