Al Zour North IWPP - Phase 2 & 3
Az-Zour North site is a complex of power generation and water production which is expected to be developed in five phases. This project is about Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract for the construction of an Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP). It involves construction of Al Zour North IWPP (Phase 2 & 3) located at the Az-Zour north site on the Arabian Gulf coast approximately 100 kilometers south of Kuwait City, Kuwait. The project includes design, supply, construction, testing and installation of independent water and power plant with a capacity of 2,700 Mega-watts (MW) and a desalination plant capable of producing 165 million gallons of desalinated water per day (750,105 m3/d). Other agreements incorporate a Land Lease Agreement for the utilization of the site and a Shareholders Agreement for the foundation and the executives of the Project Company. It is normal that the task will apply Combined Cycle Gas Turbine innovation and an open source desalination innovation according to the offering records necessities. The net contracted limit will be no less than 1,500 MW and the net contracted water limit will be in any event between 102. The distillate water will be re-carbonated before conveyance to the AZ-ZOUR WDC supply through 4 new pipelines (1600) developed by MEW. The venture engineer will be mindful to develop a 400 KV substation to clear the produced power. The desalination plant will use either Reverse Osmosis (RO) or thermal technology, or both. Output of the plant will be purchased by Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity & Water under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement. The scheme is currently under planning. The project's schedule has not yet been determined.
