The projectÂ’s scope of work involves expansion of Social Co-operative Centre for Ministry of Social Development at Jidhafs (Job No.: 13 013) in Bahrain. The building consists of a reception area, two training and physiotherapy halls, two conference rooms, a nursing room and all other public services like administrative and secretarial offices, security, toilets, kitchen, store, sub-power station, electronic control and air-conditioning room and sewage services. An external elevator for the building will be constructed, with all related modifications to be used for current floors (ground, first and second floors). On completion, it will add 650 sq m area and will have the capacity to accommodate up to one hundred people. The project is expected to be complete within 8 months as planned. The building has been redesigned to ensure smooth and easy movement and communication, accommodate people with special needs and meet the requirements of the Supreme Council for Women. Design of the building is simple yet modern and has architectural features that reflect the beauty of the building and clearly reflects the logo of the Ministry of Social Development. The design also takes into account providing easy access to all facilities; considering the needs and requirements of the disabled and the Supreme Council for Women's requirements. Green buildings measures were also taken into account while designing the building, as the Government and the Ministry pay special attention to the adoption of green buildings in all projects under implementation, including the application of measures like heat insulation for roofs, walls and windows, usage of power-saving lighting, water taps with sensor and environment-friendly materials. Construction of an additional floor at the Jidhafs Cooperative Social Centre is under way, it stated. The project's development package costing BD343,000 ($903,668), said a statement from MInistry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
