Midfield Terminal Project - Abu Dhabi International Airport Expansion
Bid Package No. WBS-1.2.3.3 Expression of Interest (EoI). This project involves construction of a Midfield Terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The terminal will be built between the airport's two runways and used by Etihad Airways, the emirate's flag carrier, which is the reason it has been named midfield terminal. Construction of a 1.1-kilometer-long terminal building comprising six floors, including a luxury hotel and spa, duty free area, restaurants, executive lounges and an indoor car park area. It will have a total built-up area of around 700,000 square metres, with initial capacity to handle 30 million passengers a year. Client has invited interested general contractors to submit their expression of interest to participate in pre-qualification for the Midfield Terminal Building. Applicants, either solely or in joint venture, must demonstrate their capability in meeting the following minimum criteria for consideration to participate in the pre-qualification process: 1) Minimum turnover of US$5 billion per year. 2) Successful completion of five (5) projects of similar complex nature during the past ten years, two of which must each be valued in excess of USD 1 billion. 3) Ability to meet the statutory requirements to undertake work of this nature in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. 4) Ability to provide guarantees, securities, bonds and evidence of financial strength proportionate to the size of the project. 5) Proven implementation of standard operating procedures consistent with globally recognised sustainability best practices. Locally, the Urban Planning Council is developing the Estidama guidelines to positively influence the construction industry in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Applicants meeting the above criteria should submit an expression of interest letter, for the issuance of pre-qualification documents, of no more than three (3) pages summarising their ability and successful prior experience. The letter should contain the name and contact details of the firm or joint venture interested in seeking pre-qualification and signed by the authorised representative.
