This project is in Saudi Arabia. It is part of $16.5 billion Mecca Public Transport Programme (MPTP). The system will require a total of (1,700) buses. Development of Mecca Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) System covering a total length of 123 kilometres and (147) stations, including major highways and smaller local roads. the transport system will have 12 lanes covering the entire part of the holy city. There will be seven separate double lanes, and five local ones, in addition lanes to pick passengers from bus stations at the four entry points of Makkah–Jeddah Expressway, Madinah Road, Allaith and Al-Sail. Mecca Mass Rail Transit Company is expected to invite bids for the main contract in October 2013. It is in process of finalising the contract packages in next two or three weeks. Following the pre-qualification phase, contract tenders will be issued before the end of December 2013.
