This project involves construction of the Khasab Independent Water Project (IWP) at Musandam in Oman. The project aims at meeting the growing demand for water in different regions. The project covers an addition of a new water desalination capacity of approximately 16,000 m³/day (3.5 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD) . Oman Power and Water Procurement Co. (OPWP) will sign a 20 years Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) with the developer selected for the project. This will be the first Independent Water Project (IWP) in Musandam Governorate in the north of Oman. According to OPWP, renewable energy projects such as solar energy projects and wind farms are expected to complement gas-fired power plants in the country. Client is expected to tender the main contract this year, with an anticipated commissioning date in the fourth quarter of 2015.
