This project involves construction of a gas pipeline from Iran to Oman. Onshore section of the pipeline extends for 200 kilometers from Rudan to Mobarak Mount in southern Hormozgan province, while the seabed section between Iran and Sohar Port in Oman will stretch for another 200 kilometers. The scheme is expected to be completed in three phases to cover the Iran-Strait of Hormuz section, the strait section and the Oman-LNG terminal section. Natural gas produced from gas fields in Iran's huge offshore South Pars energy hub will be sent to the Sohar industrial port complex in Oman via the pipeline and then to rest of the world through vessels departing from LNG terminals there. Iran's estimated gas reserves amount to 33 trillion cubic meters. Korea Gas Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the client to build this pipeline. Groundwork for laying the sub-sea pipeline has already commenced.
