The project involves construction of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (GAD) world-class museum, which will be devoted to modern and contemporary art covering an area of 30,000 square metres. Situated in the Saadiyat Cultural District, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi's changeless gathering will commend the best instances of worldwide craftsmanship dating from the 1960s to the present day. Through an exhaustive arrangement of accumulations, presentations, and instructive projects, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will distinguish one of a kind commitments to this period ever. It will move past a meaning of worldwide craftsmanship characterized by topography by concentrating on the interconnected elements of neighborhood, territorial, and universal impacts. A new Dhs500 million campaign has been unveiled by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi to promote the capital and attract more visitors. The three-year campaign will target international and local tourists as Abu Dhabi strives to put itself firmly on the map as a global tourist destination. On completion, the museum will be larger than the existing Guggenheim museums in New York, Venice, Bilbao, Berlin and Las Vegas. An US-based Company has been appointed to prepare the design for this museum. Work on the site began in 2011 but was soon suspended. As of 2018, no completion date is available, and construction is still suspended. The museum collection is planned to reflect Islamic and middle-eastern culture.
