This project will be located in Abu Dhabi. The project consists with the task of Construction of a 200 kilometre railway line of mainline plus 40km branch line to Khalifa Port. The network is mainly double track, designed for mixed-use traffic, equipped with an in-cab European signaling system (ETCS level 2), is of standard gauge, and is being built to accommodate double-stack container. The project involves construction of a 139 km railway line with double track. The project will consist of a standard double gauge track built from 1.1 million tons of ballast, over 400,000 concrete sleepers, and nearly 30,000 tons of iron rail. Local Middle East is providing topographical survey including the verification of a survey control network, aerial surveying, ground surveying and production of mapping products and aerial photography. Bids have been submitted for the main construction contract. Name of the bidders has not been reveled. Bids are currently under evaluation. An award is anticipated in the third quarter of 2014.
