This project involves upgrading of Concourse C at Dubai International Airport. Scope of work entails overhaul of the systems serving the concourse, such as the baggage handling areas. Concourse C is being used by both Emirates and other airlines as part of the developments at Dubai International Airport. Other airlines will be shifted to the new Concourse D (under construction) to be commissioned, thereby freeing up Concourse C exclusively for Emirates operations. To facilitate the same, Concourse C will be upgraded to match the current level of service provided at Concourses B and A in terms of retail spaces, retail offerings and seating areas. The project encompasses changes to the existing layout at the departures level, the creation of open boarding lounges and interfaced retail and dining areas, modifications to the transfer areas and capacities, modifications at the arrival level to handle increased passenger movement, modifications at the hotel levels to accommodate the large EmiratesÂ’ first and business class lounges, and modifications at the apron level to handle transfers to other concourses/terminals and revised retail configurations. Concourse C will be upgraded to match the current level of service provided at Concourses B and A in terms of retail spaces, retail offerings and seating areas. In order to accommodate EmiratesÂ’ fleet mix of Code E and F aircraft and the forecasts for the use of Concourse C exclusively for Emirates operations, the existing stands are being amended and upgraded. The works that will complement the Concourse C (internal) Improvements Project encompass the following: modifications to the existing aircraft standsÂ’ envelopes; services modifications at the apron level to handle the above; rearrangement of GSE roads; modifications to and realignment of the existing fixed link bridges connecting aircraft stand rotundas and Concourse C boarding lounges, while preserving the connecting points to the Concourse C structure; upgrade and replacement of existing passenger loading bridges; demolition of some existing and construction of new rotundas; and adding and closing boarding lounges to suit the aircraft docking positions.
