This project will be located at Ruwais Refining Complex, 120 kilometres from Abu Dhabi.. Scope of work includes construction of a coker unit, which breaks down heavy oil, as well as refractory lined reactors, hydrogen scrubbers and a recycle system, spray coolers, and a storage and packing plant. Through the Carbon Black & Coker Project, Adnoc Refining can produce 40,600 tonnes of two different grades of Carbon black per year, and 430,000 tonnes of high value anode grade calcined coke. The carbon black plant is produced from heavy fuel oil and used as pigment and reinforcement in rubber, especially for automobile tyres. Deadline for submission of bids for the FEED contract is on September 16, 2010 with an award anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2010.
