Bubiyan Port Development Project - Phase 1
The project involves development of “Bubiyan Port” on an island to serve the export and import requirements, with total handling capacity of 2.5 million containers per year is in Kuwait. It will be carried out in three phases. • Stage 1: the infrastructure works, 4 berth, 1,300 m long quay wall, • Stage 2: 40 Km channel dredging for 14.5 m depth navigation channel and basin (100 million cu.m) and • Stage 3: 33 Km long 2-way 3 lane road, 24.305 Km multitrack railways, 1.5 Km long road bridge, 9 Km railway bridge, 4.245 Km railway embankment, 4,000,000 cu.m landfill and soil improvement works. A multi-billion-dollar intend to form Kuwait's Bubiyan island into a business seaport is relied upon to be finished soon, Housing and Public Works Minister Badr Al Humaidi said. "The port will be a colossal push for the Kuwaiti economy. The venture plan begins moving into apparatus after a complete report has been introduced to the Higher Planning Council," he said. The private division would completely deal with the port's development and the executives. Local Consulting & Investment Co. has prepared an initial feasibility study for the project.
