Construction of basic infrastructure and support facilities for the development of Sino-Oman Industrial City in Oman, which will cover an area of 1,172 hectares and estimated cost of $10.7 billion at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The city will be home to Duqm's second oil refinery, as well as a petrochemicals complex which with a world-scale processing capacity of 230,000 barrels per day (bpd), will be similar in size to the $6 billion Duqm Refinery currently under construction in another part of the SEZ. Initial ground works have commenced on site. Work involves preparation of the site that will include heavy, medium and light industries, as well as a host of tourist, commercial and healthcare components. A team of representatives from Duqm Ningxia Construction are currently based at the site to help supervise the development of roads, office and residential facilities, in addition to structuring SMEs and light industries. These initial facilities will serve as a stepping-stone for the development of this huge scheme planned over the next several years. Initial elements of the basic infrastructure and support facilities will be ready by the end of 2017.
