The Project will have a name plate design capacity of 20,000 tonnes of antimony and 50,000 gold per year in combined metal products, representing approximately 12 per cent. of average annual world antimony production over the past five years. This project will be located at the port of Sohar Free Zone in Oman and cover an area of 200,000 square meters (20 hectares). A new company, Strategic & Precious Metals Processing (SPMP) has been formed to develop and build this facility. Tri-Star has a 40% equity interest in SPMP, with the other joint venture partners being Oman Investment Fund (which owns 40%) and DNR Industries Ltd (which owns the remaining 20%). The scheme will have a name plate design capacity of 20,000 tons antimony per annum in combined metal and antimony tri-oxide (ATO) products. The project has been designed to produce antimony metal (Regulus - European Standard Grade 1 & 2) for export and a finished 'high tint' ATO, branded as Tri-Star ATO, with low lead (Pb) for the European flame retardant markets, as well as for the wider global markets. The London-based company said, the project has also achieved another milestone in first quarter of 2018, that is the development of valuable relationships with international feedstock and other raw material suppliers. The project is expected to take approximately 18 months to two years to design, engineer, construct and commission to full production.
