Al-Shamal Sewage Treatment Plant Project

The project is at Al Shamal in north of Qatar. The project is about Design, build, operation and maintenance (DBOM) contract to build a sewage treatment plant. The sewage project covers the replacing the existing package treatment plant with the central sewage treatment works plant. The facility will use latest high-tech advanced electrical and mechanical equipment to improve the quality of treated effluent and to operate the station with minimal manpower in such a way to ensure constancy of the required quality. Additionally, the project will include operation and maintenance of the entire plant for 10 years from the date of the end of design and construction works. The project capabilities and experience in major sewage treatment works, pumping stations, rising mains and all associated civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation ancillary works in areas of Al Shamal. The project comprises the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a new central sewage treatment works to serve Al Shamal Township and the neighboring areas. New treatment works will replace the existing package treatment plant on the same site and will consist of a design capacity of 7,500 cubic metre/diametre average flow with a capacity to treat an instantaneous peak flow of 234 L/S (2.7 times dry weather flow). Additionally the project includes the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of a septage tanker reception station, treated sewage effluent (TSE) pumping station and a TSE tanker filler station together with the designs of both foul sewage and TSE long-distance transfer pipelines. The construction period is likely to be 24 months followed by an operation and maintenance period of 10 years thereafter. The pre-qualified contractors are expected to be invited for tendering in June 2013. The contract award to the successful contractor is likely to be in January 2014. Three hard copies (Original and two copies) and a soft copy on a Compact Disk (CD) must be included as part of the submission.
