The project involves the construction of a 500MW solar power plant to be located near Al-Kharsaah, 80 km west of Doha in Qatar. The solar plant is planned to be executed in phases of which, the first 350 MW phase is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2020. The project site has the capacity to potentially host 700 MW of solar capacity. Land has been allocated recently for the plant. Both local and international investor companies for the scheme will be revealed soon. Client has signed a contract with Services Company, which will be providing shipping and supply services for the project. The first phase of the project will cost around $500 million for production of electricity, QEWC General Manager and Managing Director, Fahad Hamad al Mohannadi said on Monday. Speaking after signing of an agreement between QEWC and Q-Post, Mohannadi said investor companies - both local and international - for the solar power project will be named soon. The project, which is to be completed on time, is expected to completed by mid-2020, he added.
